Each April, we get to recognise the important role that military children play in the Armed Forces family. NSI provides special opportunities for military children to have their voices heard. Learn more below or click this link for FREE Month of the Military Child resources!
Competition
The theme of this year’s poetry and art competition was: Life as a Dandelion.

Competition Prizes!
Each winner will receive a £25 Amazon Gift Voucher (donated by the Armed Forces Education Trust) and a goodie bag!
One lucky school will receive a £250 Book Grant (donated by the Armed Forces Education Trust!)
Winners will be invited to London in June for a special presentation of their work.
All participants will receive a personalised certificate of commendation.
The Trust gives grants to support service children in education, helping these children overcome any disadvantage as a result of their parents' service.

Creative Workshops
NSI holds creative workshops in poetry, art, speech and songwriting for schools and groups for Month of the Military Child. The workshops are not just for military children, but a great way for civilians students to learn about what military life looks like for their peers!

Dandelions
Did you know the official flower of the military child is the dandelion?
Dandelions put down roots almost anywhere they grow, and it's almost impossible to destroy. It's a survivor in a broad range of climates. Military children bloom everywhere the wind carries them. They are hardy and upright. Their roots are strong, cultivated deeply in the culture of the military, planted swiftly and surely. They're ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands, and new friends.
