2016-17 Roadshow

Never Such Innocence held a series of roadshows across the British Isles to engage schools and communities with our 2016/17 competition. The roadshows took place in prestigious venues at which local schoolchildren and teachers heard about the competition from Lady Lucy French and our partner the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. We were also joined by local dignitaries, politicians, representatives of the Armed Forces, cadets, representatives from educational bodies and groups, and local/regional press. Local children from each region read poems from the First World War, the competition and poems they wrote themselves.  Our Liverpool Roadshow also launched the Songs of the Centenary project, and children at subsequent Roadshows shared their songs with us, with the help of Artist in residence Marty Longstaff, The Lake Poets

The 2016-17 Roadshow visited:

Blackwood, Wales, on Monday 12th September 2016

Exeter, England, on Thursday 13th October 2016

Chester, England, Thursday 20th October 2016

Liverpool, England, Thursday 17th November 2016

Portsmouth, England, Thursday 2nd February 2017

Leek, England, Friday 10th February 2017

Our 2017/18 competition will be our biggest yet, and our Roadshow will reach even more communities across the British Isles.  If you are interested in Never Such Innocence visiting your community or school during the 2017/18 Roadshow please email the team at enquiries@neversuchinnocence.com

"I would like to thank Never Such Innocence for including us in the events on board HMS Iron Duke.  Our learners do not often have access to such high quality, prestigious events and creative learning opportunities and you enabled them to be totally included alongside a whole spectrum of other people.  They couldn't stop talking about the event on their return.  It really was special, and a simple thank you doesn't really convey enough, but thank you." - Lisa Taylor, Assistant Headteacher, The Harbour School at Tipner

"The students came back raving about the trip and were thoroughly pleased that they went.  Thank you so much for your support and the kind invitation.  The pupils are keen to enter the competition and got a lot out of the day.  Fabulous." - Tom Cranfield, Subject Leader in English, Mayfield School
